Valverde: Girona a turning point

Ernesto Valverde believes Barcelona’s Catalan derby against Girona on Saturday marks a moment in the season when “the points count for more”.

Victory over Girona will provisionally move Barca 10 points clear at the top of La Liga, and Valverde expressed the importance of his side beating their local rivals.

What's Arthur’s last name? I thought he was an actor…” joked the Coach at a Press conference.

“He plays for another team and we respect that. We’re tracking many players.

“Chelsea? I liked our performance against them. We were extraordinary and also were at Eibar.

“We had to come out and we did. I think we’re doing fine at the moment, and we’re in this run where the games are more decisive than they were before. The points will count for a little more as of Saturday.

“Police officer’s death during Athletic-Spartak? It’s a tough situation and we’re all affected, in my case especially because it happened in Bilbao.

“It’s serious because we’re talking about football, yet there are people who use it as an excuse for other things.

“It’s another thing that stains football because it takes advantage of its exposure.”
