Vitolo: Simeone improving me

Atletico Madrid winger Vitolo believes boss Diego Simeone can improve him as a player and was key for him joining the club.

Los Rojiblancos signed the 28-year-old in a €40m deal from Sevilla last summer, but due to their player registration ban, he spent the first half of the season on loan at Las Palmas.

“Unlike Diego Costa, this is my first experience under Simeone so I’m learning a lot,” Vitolo told a press conference ahead of the Europa League clash with FC Copenhagen.

“I need to understand what Simeone wants tactically and what he demands of his players, but I’m training hard and working to earn a place in the team.

“I want to play as often as possible and make the most of my opportunities, but I must demonstrate I deserve my spot in the team.

“I have come here to keep growing as a player, to keep improving and I believe I am doing that.

“The World Cup? It is something you dream of as a child and to be part of the squad this summer would be very special.”
