FC Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken believes Atletico Madrid ‘showed why they are 10 points ahead of Real Madrid’ on Thursday night.
Los Rojiblancos eased to a 4-1 victory in Denmark in the Europa League Round of 32 tie, with the Danish boss impressed by their Diego Simeone’s side.
“Atletico Madrid showed why they are 10 points ahead of Real Madrid,” Solbakken told his post-match press conference, as cited by Diario AS.
“They are a team where everyone works and nobody is resting, nobody is hiding, and they have a tremendous work ethic.
“We are now totally dead in the tie, and we will consider rotation for the return leg to give other players a chance and some valuable experience.
“We made too many mistakes, we are not used to that level of pressing or that quality and we could not afford to make mistakes, but we did.”
