Jonathan Viera set for China move

Las Palmas forward Jonathan Viera is set to join Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan for a deal in the region of €25m.

The 28-year-old Gran Canarian is in his second stint at Los Amarillos – his boyhood club – and has made 95 appearances since returning from Standard Liege three seasons ago.

“I will give everything for the team, but I have told president (Miguel Angel Ramirez) that this is a unique opportunity…for me and for my family’s future,” Viera – who will reportedly earn €6m per year in China – is quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.

“I have outlined to him how I have been losing money for many years because I have decided to stay here before.

“My heart is frozen – I can see the situation of the team, how important I am to the Coach and to the president, but I am clear I would accept the offer.”
