Morata open to future Madrid return

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has left the door open to a future return to Real Madrid and has insisted he still supports the club.

The 25-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer in a deal reportedly worth up to €65m, but has not ruled out one day returning to the European champions.

“I respect Chelsea of course and I am very happy, but Madrid are Madrid,” Morata told Movistar+.

“I’m still a fan of Real Madrid, but life does not end when you leave the club and last summer it was the right time for me to move.

“I never asked to start games but I did not play in the Champions League knockouts last season or against Barcelona, Atletico, Sevilla or Valencia.

“Can Madrid win the Champions League? Of course, they are going through a bad moment but in football this can happen and Madrid have been below par before and won the Champions League.”
