Bartra: I’ve joined Betis to be happy

Defender Marc Bartra has revealed his decision to join Real Betis last month was because he ‘wants to be happy playing football’.

The 27-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos from Borussia Dortmund in a deal said to be worth in the region of €10m to bolster the Seville-based club’s defence.

“I have joined Betis to be happy playing football,” Bartra told Catalonia Radio, as quoted by ABC de Sevilla.

“I want to have stability in my career, to play a lot of games and advance my chances of returning to the international scene with Spain.

“It is never easy to join a club in the January window but Betis are a club with good hopes of Europe and there is a lot of confidence here, so I am confident of success.”
