Zidane: ‘Blind faith’ in my players

Zinedine Zidane insists he has “blind faith” in his Real Madrid players ahead of Levante on Saturday and that “La Liga isn’t over”.

Two wins and 11 goals in their last two League games have kept Madrid firmly in the top four, and Zidane made it clear his side were ready to “fill up our tanks” for the rest of the season.

“I don’t care about next season, I’m only thinking only about the matches we have now,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“Now we want to win these League matches and then think the same about the Champions League.

“Levante? It’s another important match for us after two wins on the bounce. What we want is to be prepared. We’ve had a good week of training.

“I have blind faith in my players. We’re in this together, we’ve had some difficult moments, but I have confidence in them.

“Some people may think I’m just saying it, but it’s not the case. My squad returned, thinking La Liga isn’t over and working well.

“Isco? He has to keep working hard. He’s a very important player for us. We have nine games in the space of a few weeks, as of our next game against Real Sociedad.

“Now you [journalists] are talking about Isco, next it’ll be Asensio or someone else, but I’m counting on everyone.

“I like using different systems. I’ve chopped and changed many times during my time here, but when all three [Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema] are available, their best positions are in a front three.

“I have other possibilities with other players, but I don’t have a fixed system. In the Champions League, we played with a diamond midfield.

“The key is to be focused from minute 1 to 90. We’re playing well and we’re also well physically. The second one is most difficult thing.

“Having a long week to ourselves is good. It’s good for us to work and fill up our tanks. It happened in my first season.

“We had three weeks to improve physically, and that let us improve our physical endurance for the final months of the season.

“We can apply more intensity in our sessions so we can improve [our physical endurance] in matches.”
