Bartra: Fee does not bring pressure

Defender Marc Bartra insists he does not feel pressure despite becoming the second most expensive transfer for Real Betis.

The 27-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos in a €10m deal from Borussia Dortmund this week, becoming the club’s second highest transfer fee behind Brazilian winger Denilson.

“I don’t feel pressure and I am fully focused on working with the team,” Bartra told reporters upon his presentation.

“I know this league very well and I am so happy to return to Spain, now I have to show the right attitude, desire and commitment to become a regular and earn success here.

“This club showed lots of confidence in me and a desire to sign me, which was important. Obviously this club is huge and very important, so it was not a tough decision for me to join.

“Can I go to the World Cup? It’s a goal that I am going to work hard on, but I believe it is possible. There is plenty of competition for places, but I am confident that I can stake a claim.”
