Sevilla became the first side to progress into the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey after a 5-2 aggregate victory over Atletico Madrid.

It took the home side just 25 seconds to open the scoring with Sergio Escudero firing them into the lead, after they had triumphed 2-1 in last week’s first leg in Madrid.

Antoine Griezmann then levelled proceedings on the nights with a golazo but Diego Simeone’s side could not take advantage of their opportunity and lost their way in the second half.

Ever Banega slotted home his 72nd minute penalty before Pablo Sarabia put the game to bed seven minutes later with a fizzing effort into the bottom corner.

Simeone was then dismissed from the dugout late on following a dispute over officiating decisions as the 2013 cup winners were eliminated by the 2016 finalists.
