Sevilla cool Batshuayi interest

Sevilla have cooled their interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi and will instead opt out of signing a striker this month, say reports in Spain.

Batshuayi joined Chelsea in 2016 but has failed to cement his place in the team, firstly as a deputy to Diego Costa before playing second fiddle to former Madrid striker Morata this season.

A report in Tuesday’s Estadio Deportivo states Los Rojiblancos have tailed off their interest with Coach Vincenzo Montella preferring to stick with the club’s current attacking options.

Colombian striker Luis Muriel is said to have particularly impressed Montella while Wissam Ben Yedder and Nolito are among the club’s other attacking options.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of new strikers this January including Edin Dzeko, Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll.
