Layun set to join Real Betis

Real Betis are close to completing the signing of Porto defender Miguel Layun with a deal potentially being processed this week, say reports in Spain.

The Mexican international has fallen out of favour at FC Porto, making only two starts for the Portuguese league leaders this season.

The 29-year-old had also been linked with a move to Alaves, while Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna had reportedly previously held an interest.

However, ABC de Sevilla and Cadena Ser both state the full-back would prefer a move to Los Verdiblancos, for whom Rafael Navarro and Alin Tosca may depart this month.

Layun spent twelve months in England with Watford before moving to Porto in 2016 and is said to be available on an affordable permanent transfer or as a loan deal.

Betis are thought to have offered a loan deal with a €5m option to buy but Porto may wish to make this a compulsory purchase.
