Preview: Villarreal-Levante

Villarreal will leapfrog Real Madrid into a Champions League place with victory over struggling Levante on Saturday.

Villarreal boss Javier Calleja on how the first round to the season went for his side: “For me, we had a great first round.

“We’ve overcome some problems and gone from less to more. We ended it in an anecdotal position, close to the Champions League but in a Europa League spot.

“We have to appreciate it, but our idea is to improve. If we can do that, we can go further up the table and fight for the Champions League.”

Levante boss Juan Muniz on his side’s need for a new striker: “We mustn’t think that if a striker comes in, we’ll save ourselves and if not, we won’t.

“The club are doing everything they possibly can, I have no doubt about that. I can’t think about what’s going to happen next week.

“Everything that comes along the way is fine, but it doesn’t mean that it’s going to get you out of the problem.”
