Official: Bakambu leaves Villarreal

Villarreal have confirmed that striker Cedric Bakambu has left the club to join Chinese side Beijing Guoan for €37m.

The deal had been held up due to a tax issue, which means Beijing have effectively had to pay the fee twice.

However, that has been resolved and the 26-year-old can now be declared as the most expensive African player in history.

Bakambu joined Villarreal from Turkish outfit Bursaspor in 2015 and went on to score 47 goals in 105 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.

He has since been replaced at La Ceramica by Roger Martinez, who arrived from China earlier in the month, while Enes Unal has returned from his loan spell at Levante.
