Preview: Sevilla-Betis

Vincenzo Montella and Quique Setien get their first taste of Seville derbies when Sevilla and Real Betis lock horns in La Liga on Saturday.

Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella on debuting in La Liga with a derby: “From my first meeting with the President, I understood what this game meant for the club, the fans.

“I really want to experience this derby. I toured the city after dinner, and many people told me that we had to win the derby. I’m aware of its importance.”

Betis boss Quique Setien on what the derby means to him: “I can’t say I’ve experienced it yet, but I feel it all around me, from the players who have already experienced these games, the people at the club, our fans…

“Here, everyone is either a Sevilla or Betis fan, not Madrid or Barcelona. Everyone has that special feeling.

“There are families where the husband is a Sevilla fan and the wife is a Betis fan. All this is channelled on to the pitch, which is a cauldron, and it’s something exceptional.”
