Barca strike €12m Mina deal

Barcelona have agreed a €12m deal with Palmeiras for defender Yerry Mina, who will officially join the club next week, according to reports.

The two clubs had reportedly previously agreed a €9m deal for the 23-year-old to go through next summer, but Barca want to advance this signing due to Javier Mascherano’s imminent departure.

Palmeiras sporting director Alexandre Mattos earlier this week confirmed the club have received a fresh offer for the Colombian international, while El Mundo Deportivo and Onda Cero now report an extra €3m is sufficient for such a move.

“Barcelona have made another offer for Mina but equally, we do not want him to leave the club,” Mattos said.

“We are going to wait for their delegation to arrive in Sao Paulo to discuss the situation further and if, but only if, we are satisfied with the new bid, we will allow him to move. Otherwise, he will remain a Palmeiras player.”

Mina moved to Palmeiras from Sante Fe last year and won the Brazilian League in his first season, while making its Team of the Year.

He also has nine caps for Colombia, scoring three goals.
