Castro back at Betis training

Real Betis all-time record goalscoring Ruben Castro has returned to the club following a loan spell in the Chinese Super League.

The 36-year-old forward, who has netted 147 times for Los Verdiblancos, has returned from a four-month stint at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng where he scored seven times in 11 appearances.

The Chinese side did not sanction the experienced striker to return to Betis training upon his return to Spain in November, but he has now rejoined his teammates at the Seville-based club.

Diario AS report how Castro has employed a personal trainer to get back to his peak fitness levels and make himself available for first-team selection as soon as possible.

The club are short on forwards due to a serious knee injury to Antonio Sanabria while loan signing Joel Campbell is also out, leaving Sergio Leon as the only recognised striker at the club.

Castro's first game back for Betis could be in Saturday's Seville derby against Sevilla.
