Montella’s ‘economic sacrifice’ for Sevilla

New Sevilla Coach Vincenzo Montella has made a ‘great economic sacrifice’ to join the Andalucian club, according to his agent.

The 43-year-old was dismissed from his role at Milan in November and Marca reported that due to a contractual agreement with the Rossoneri until 2019, there was a delay in Sevilla’s official announcement.

The Italian, who has brought fellow countryman and former Sevilla midfielder Enzo Maresca in as his number two, reportedly gave up an agreed part of his Rossoneri pay-off to join Los Rojiblancos.

“Vincenzo’s option to join Sevilla appeared a week ago, and he made a great economic sacrifice in his wages to move to the Spanish club,” his agent Alessandro Lucci told Sky Sports Italia, as cited by El Desmarque.

Montella – who won 20 caps with Italy – has also previously coached Catania, Roma and Fiorentina.
