Las Palmas appoint Paco Jemez

La Liga basement club Las Palmas have confirmed the managerial appointment of Paco Jemez following the dismissal of Pako Ayestaran.

The 47-year-old spent nine months in charge of Los Amarillos – Jemez’s hometown club – between 2010 and 2011 and had been unemployed after leaving Mexican club Cruz Azul last month.

The former Spain international has reportedly previously turned down an approach from Alaves, who went on to appoint Abelardo Fernandez.

Jemez is most well known for his four-year stint at Rayo Vallecano while he went on to Coach Granada in the 2016/17 campaign but was sacked after just six matches.

Las Palmas currently sit bottom of La Liga after Wednesday night’s 2-0 loss at Getafe.
