Barcelona have denied making an approach for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann after the club were reported to FIFA, says a report in Spain.

Los Rojiblancos submitted an official complaint to world football’s governing body following suggestions the Catalan giants had met with the French forward without their permission.

The original report appeared in El Mundo Deportivo on Saturday before Barca’s director of sporting relations Guillermo Amor refused to deny a deal was on the cards and that a meeting ‘could’ have taken place.

A Barcelona spokesperson is quoted by saying to Marca on Tuesday read: “Barcelona have not negotiated with any player, so we understand that no irregularity has been committed, we are relaxed.”

Should FIFA deem the Blaugrana to be guilty in this case, they could face severe penalties including the possibility of a transfer ban.

It is not the first time this month Barca have landed themselves in hot water with the authorities after Gremio midfielder Arthur was photographed holding a Barcelona top alongside a club director.
