Valencia suffer Gaya blow

Valencia have confirmed that Jose Luis Gaya suffered a hamstring injury during their 2-1 defeat to Eibar on Saturday.

Joan Jordan’s late winner condemned Valencia to a second loss in three matches, and their unhappy evening was compounded by, what the club’s official website calls, “an injury to Gaya’s right hamstring.”

“He has a problem in his hamstring,” Coach Marcelino added after the game.

“The doctors will look at him to see what he has, but I don’t think it’ll be anything serious.”

Regardless of the injury’s severity, the left-back joins a treatment table that is already occupied by Jeison Murillo, Carlos Soler and Ezequiel Garay.

The result also leaves Los Che down to third in La Liga after Atletico Madrid beat Alaves 1-0.
