Barca’s Plan B: Ozil, Arthur

Barcelona will make a double move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Gremio midfielder Arthur next month should they fail to land Philippe Coutinho, say reports.

Both Catalan sports newspapers – El Mundo Deportivo and Diario Sport – carry the news that the Blaugrana are willing to sign both targets to bolster their squad next month.

Brazilian starlet Arthur recently won the Copa Libertadores at Gremio and was recently pictured with a Barcelona top alongside Andre Cury, the Catalans’ representative in South America.

That picture upset the Brazilian side and they are now demanding the 21-year-old's full €50m release clause.

Ozil played for Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho and the two are said to remain close, although the rivalry between Madrid and Barca is not thought to be an obstacle into a potential move to the Camp Nou.

The playmaker would be clear to play in the Champions League if he does move in January and this is thought to be tempting clubs into a January signing.
