Cadiz aim for La Liga 123 record

Cadiz are aiming for a record in Spain’s second tier against Barcelona B on Friday night, with seven victories and clean sheets in a row.

Los Gaditanos 2-0 victory at Real Zaragoza on Saturday ensured they had won six consecutive league matches without conceding a goal, propelling them into third place in the standings.

The Andalucian side have scored only 18 goals in their 18 league matches this campaign, but their real strength has been in conceding only 10 times thus far.

Alvaro Cervera’s side missed out on promotion last season with a playoff defeat to Tenerife, and have not appeared in the top flight since 2006.

Cadiz sit one point off the top of the table, with Huesca and Lugo currently in the automatic promotion places.

Last season’s champions Levante secured six consecutive victories without conceding, a record that has been matched but not bettered on six separate occasions.
