Zidane: Ronaldo ‘much better’ than me

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane admits Cristiano Ronaldo is a “much better” player than he was.

Ronaldo won the fifth Ballon d’Or of his career earlier in the week, drawing him level with Barcelona rival Lionel Messi, and Zidane echoed the Portuguese’s sentiment that he was the best ever.

“Sevilla? They’re a Champions League team and they’ve had a great season,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Saturday’s clash with Sevilla in La Liga.

“They’re doing well in the table and playing good football. We also send a big hug to Berizzo because he won’t be at the game, but we’ll see him soon.

“Ronaldo? Many things have been said and there are no words to describe him. What he does every day is phenomenal.

“A player can come and stay here for 15 or 20 years and he’ll never achieve what Cristiano has achieved.

“Cristiano’s the best player in the history of football. What he’s doing, no-one has done before him. He’s awesome.

“I see him here forever. There’s always a lot of debate, Cristiano this, Ronaldo that, to annoy him, Madrid and ourselves.

“However, there’s no debate and he said it clearly when he received the Ballon d’Or. There are no more words to say.

“Who was better, Cristiano or me? Clearly me! All jokes aside, he’s much better, but I didn’t have a bad game…

“Carvajal’s Champions League ban? It’s unprovable and it wasn’t fair on us. Dani didn’t [get booked] deliberately. He didn’t want to waste time.

“Bale? He’s done only light training and won’t face Sevilla. The idea is to travel to the Club World Cup with him, and we’ll see what he’s like for our first game.”
