Castro to replace injured Sanabria

Real Betis all-time record goalscoring Ruben Castro will return to the first-team squad next month to replace the injured Antonio Sanabria.

The 36-year-old forward, who has netted 147 times for Los Verdiblancos, has returned from a four-month stint at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng where he scored seven times in 11 appearances.

Paraguayan international Sanabria has sustained a knee injury with fears he could be ruled for several months and potentially until the end of the current campaign.

Joel Campbell, on loan from Arsenal, also has a long-term injury leaving Sergio Leon as the only fit striker at the club, with reports the club will add another forward to their ranks in January, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Castro cannot begin training with Betis until January due to FIFA rules while the striker is still reportedly owed wages by Chinese club Guizhou Hengfeng Zhichent.
