Gabi Fernandez is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Atletico Madrid, with Juanfran Torres likely to follow suit.
According to Cadena SER, Atleti have already reached a verbal agreement with Gabi for the captain to stay at Wanda Metropolitano for another year.
Moreover, AS claims Los Rojiblancos want to keep Juanfran for at least another season.
The right-back lost his place to Sime Vrsaljko towards the end of last term and talks reportedly froze as a result.
However, he has since gone back to being Atleti’s first choice, while Vrsaljko is likely to return to Italy next month.
Gabi and Juanfran have both played a key role under Diego Simeone for the past six years, helping Los Colchoneros to a Europa League, Copa del Rey, Liga title and two Champions League Finals.
However, they are out of contract at the end of the season and can negotiate pre-contracts with other clubs in January.
