‘Atleti exit means two players sold’

Atletico Madrid’s Champions League exit will cost the club €30m and two players could be sold in January to make up for it.

AS reports Atletico’s third place and subsequent drop into the Europa League means they miss out on an additional €30m that would have arrived had they continued in the Champions League, but the feeling is that the club will be able to cope financially.

However, it’s also suggested that at least two players will be sold in the winter transfer market as a result of the failure to reach the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

That’s despite Atleti immediately becoming among the favourites to win the Europa League, with it proposed that if they were to win the competition, they could make up for the revenue lost by no longer playing in the Champions League.
