Barcelona have confirmed that defender Samuel Umtiti will be out for around two months with a hamstring injury.
Umtiti pulled up as Iago Aspas sprinted past him to set up Celta Vigo’s equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Barca on Saturday, and the Catalans’ official website confirmed an injury to the Frenchman’s right thigh.
Consequently, he will miss the remainder of 2017, including the Clasico against Real Madrid on December 23 and may not be back until the start of February.
Thomas Vermaelen will now become Gerard Pique’s centre-back partner until Javier Mascherano returns later this month.
