Cadiz comeback stuns Betis

Cadiz produced a stunning comeback against Real Betis in the Copa Del Rey to progress to the last 16 with a 6-5 aggregate victory.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, the visitors from La Liga 123 took the lead in the third minute at the Benito Villamarin through David Barral, but Ryad Boudebouz’s curling effort levelled proceedings five minutes later.

Dani Romera headed Los Gaditanos back in front in the 18th minute but the lead was again short-lived as Christian Tello equalised for the hosts five minutes after.

Incredibly, Cadiz retook the lead in the 26th minute after the home side’s goalkeeper Dani Jimenez wiped out Barral in the penalty area with Aitor Garcia netting the resultant spot kick.

Romera bagged his second of the night just before the break and whilst Tello restored hope for the hosts midway through the first half, they were still being eliminated on away goals.

However, Cadiz sealed their place in the next round as Ivan Kecojevic headed home unmarked from a corner with ten minutes remaining.
