Carvajal faces ‘deliberate yellow’ ban

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal is facing an additional two-match Champions League ban for deliberately getting booked during Tuesday’s 6-0 win at APOEL.

UEFA confirmed on Wednesday that it had charged the full-back for “receiving a yellow card on purpose” which rules him out of Madrid’s final group game, even though they have already qualified.

The Spain international was cautioned in the final minute of Zinedine Zidane’s side’s victory for time-wasting over a throw-in, and UEFA will now review the case on December 7.

The 25-year-old is ruled out of the final group game against Borussia Dortmund at the Bernabeu, but now runs the risk of missing both legs of the club’s last 16 tie.
