Iniesta flattered by Juve applause

Andres Iniesta admits he was “proud and very happy” to receive applause from both sets of fans after Barcelona’s 0-0 draw with Juventus.

Iniesta had been linked with a move to Juve over the summer, prior to signing a new contract with Barca, and the midfielder’s performance in Turin was appreciated universally.

“It’s very nice that they show me this affection, both at home and abroad,” he said after the game.

“The truth is that it’s a source of pride and it makes me very happy as both a player and person.

“Qualification for the Champions League last 16? We’ve fulfilled our objective with a game to spare, which was important.

“We put in a great shift and the whole team did a great job against great opponents.

“Messi on the bench? Of course, it’s not often that we play without Leo, but everything we’re doing is helping us improve.

“Ter Stegen? Teams only create a few chances against us, but it’s still vital that the goalkeeper saves them.

“It’s not easy, but Marc has great quality and a lot of talent. The best thing about him is that he still has plenty of room to grow.”
