Preview: Malaga-Depor

Malaga can lift themselves off the bottom of La Liga with a second straight home win on Sunday against fellow strugglers Deportivo La Coruna.

Malaga boss Michel Gonzalez on the importance of taking on Depor: “There are no more normal games for us.

“I don’t know how I’d describe this game, but we can’t take any chances. We have to go for the points because we really need them for the hope that we still have [of staying up].

“Deportivo lost the game that they played best in, which was against Atletico. Cristobal has his way of seeing things and putting his team together in a certain way.

“He knows what he’s doing and isn’t scared of coaching at a level as high as this.”

Depor boss Cristobal Parralo on January transfers and the return of goalkeeper Ruben Martinez: “Having players that hardly play isn’t good for anyone.

“Ruben? If he’s in the squad, it’s because he’s been given the all-clear. I see him in a good way and he’s training well.

“It’s an important match, there’s a lot at stake and we’re ready. I’m optimistic after our training this week.”
