Machin wants to prolong ‘sweet moment’

Girona Coach Pablo Machin has called on his team to continue their ‘sweet moment’ after winning three consecutive league matches.

The Catalan club host Real Sociedad on Friday night in the aftermath of away victories at Deportivo and Levante, with a famous home victory over Real Madrid sandwiched in-between.

“We are in a sweet moment so we aim to continue this, even if that’s a cliché,” Machin is quoted as saying by Marca.

“We had a number of players away on international duty (Pablo Maffeo, Christian Stuani, Larry Kayode) but they have all now returned and been integrated back into training.

“I want to think they are all in the right place to be involved, for instance Pablo Maffeo is young and I know his characteristics and mindset, so I know he can play at a high level.

“La Real are likely to make us suffer a lot, they are very strong particularly in attack and are extremely tough to win the ball back from.

“They play out from defence and from back to front very quickly, with a good rhythm so we must be ready to combat this.”
