Celta agree Maxi Gomez sale – reports

Celta Vigo have sanctioned the sale of striker Maxi Gomez to a Chinese Super League club for a deal reaching €20m after variables, say reports.

Gomez only joined the Galician outfit in June from hometown club Defensor Sporting in a €4m deal, and has netted five goals in 10 La Liga appearances.

The Uruguayan striker is set to multiply his salary by ten, according to Faro de Vigo, who speculate that contracts have already been signed on a deal which is €16m upfront with a further €4m in variables and will go through in January.

The 21-year-old was top scorer in the Uruguayan domestic league and his fine start to life at Estadio Balaidos – including a brace on his debut against Real Sociedad – earned him a first international call-up.

Gomez signed a five-year deal at Estadio Balaidos and whilst he is said to have initially been reluctant on the move, the financial incentives and persuasiveness of the clubs is said to have played a big role.
