United target January Soler deal?

Manchester United will attempt to sign Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler in January, according to reports in Spain.

Jose Mourinho is ‘insistent’ on signing Soler, a Valencia youth graduate, according to El Desmarque – who cite a report in The Independent – while Plaza Deportiva also report on the interest.

The highly-rated 20-year-old signed a new deal with Los Che in May until June 2021 with a reported buyout clause of €80m.

Soler only made his professional debut in December 2016 but has since made 37 appearances – including starting all 11 matches this season – and scoring four times, in a string of impressive displays.

Both reports suggest Andreas Pereira, currently on loan at the Mestalla from United, could be used as leverage in any deal.

A report earlier this week in Marca suggested Los Che would consider selling Soler to raise vital funds, especially if they do not qualify for this season’s Champions League.

Valencia have made a flying start to La Liga, winning eight and drawing three of their opening 11 matches, after two consecutive 12th-placed finishes.
