Joaquin has agreed to extend his Real Betis deal by a further two years to take him to the verge of his 39th birthday, according to reports in Spain.
The former Spain international is in his 18th season as a professional and is enjoying his second stint at his boyhood club having returned from Fiorentina in 2015.
ABC de Sevilla now report the contract extension, which will take his stay at Los Verdiblancos until June 2020, is ‘practically complete’ and will be announced in the coming week.
Joaquin has started 10 of the club’s La Liga games this season and has been in top form, scoring three times in Quique Setien’s highly-entertaining side.
