Pepe has outlined the difference in ‘passion’ and ‘atmosphere’ whilst playing for Besiktas instead of former club Real Madrid.
The Portuguese central defender joined the Turkish champions this summer after a decade at the Bernabeu and he has now stated the atmosphere in the Spanish capital was not as favourable.
“The fans here are hugely passionate and every game you feel the noise and atmosphere from the stands,” Pepe is quoted as telling Turkish media by Diario AS.
“It’s very different to my time at Real Madrid…the enthusiasm is not the same and the reality is the atmosphere is very different – the Madrid fans might not want to hear that.
“This is a new stage in my career and I’m happy to be playing football. Madrid are a club from my past who I enjoyed playing with, just like at Maritimo and Porto.”
