‘Las Palmas can take positives’

Pako Ayestaran insists there are positives for Las Palmas to take from the 3-0 defeat at Real Madrid. ‘We controlled the first half…’

Madrid eventually ran out 3-0 winners through Casemiro, Marco Asensio and Isco to leave the islanders in the bottom three, but Ayestaran feels his side came away from Santiago Bernabeu with reason to be cheerful.

“I’m proud of the team. We can take positives from this game. We controlled the game in the first half and knew where we had to push,” he said, AS reports.

“We knew that if we won the ball back quickly and broke quickly we would have options against their centre-backs. The last pass was missing. They scored from a corner, when we were thinking we’d have options in the second half. The game ends in sorrow, but we had a good game.

“I’m focused on getting the most out of this team. They’ve shown they are committed and involved and the rest isn’t in our hands.”
