Preview: Alaves-Espanyol

Last-placed Alaves host a resilient Espanyol side on Saturday, hoping to pick up their first home win of the season.

Alaves boss Gianni De Biasi on his side deserving more: “The team deserve more, we’re growing.

“We must continue with the same commitment and tactical approach, plus not give our opponents time to think.

“All these things are what we’re working on, and gradually they’re coming together.

“We’ve had some good games lately, but we need to work harder and create more chances. It’s very important that we get a good result on Saturday.

“Everyone’s ready to play, but more than words, we need to do important things.

“If we’re better than our opponents, we must take every chance we get. We can’t make mistakes.”

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores on his team’s growth: “Our only comparison is to compare ourselves. Our growth will depend on that.

“It’s good that we’re ambitious, and we want to always win and fight, without losing our spirit.

“I don’t see any limits as to how far we can go, but we still have a lot of work to do.

“I’ve watched Espanyol suffer a lot from distance and I’ve told them that they’ve been very tough in facing certain situations.

“I see a team that are growing. I’d have liked [our growth] to be quicker, but I see great shoots that give me the feeling of a team that can grow a lot, and I’m happy about that.”
