Torres set to leave Atleti in January

Fernando Torres is set to leave Atletico Madrid in January due to lack of playing time and his current form, say reports in Spain.

Diario AS cite a report in El Larguero which states the 33-year-old has decided to exit Los Rojiblancos six months ahead of his contract expiring.

The striker has not scored in any of his ten appearances this season across all competitions and has not started a La Liga tie since the opening day draw at Girona.

Torres has netted 119 times across his two stints at Atleti, including 28 since rejoining the club initially in January 2015 following stints at Liverpool and Chelsea.

The arrival of Diego Costa in January is set to further limit the first-team opportunities available for the Fuenlabrada-born striker at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Reports suggest the former Spain international could be open to a move to China or the United States.
