Tottenham Hotspur hero Dele Alli admits “I wasn’t surprised we were dominant” against Real Madrid after his side’s 3-1 win on Wednesday.
Alli helped himself to a brace at Wembley Stadium, which also fired Spurs to the Champions League knockout stages, and the midfielder confessed his team were encouraged by the space they “couldn’t believe” were afforded to them by Madrid in the 1-1 draw a fortnight ago.
“It was a fantastic display by us,” he told BT Sport after the game.
“We knew if we stuck to our gameplan and were solid at back then we'd get chances. We’re very happy with the result.
“I wasn't surprised [we were dominant]. We couldn’t believe how much space we had at the Bernabeu.
“We don't want to just compete with these teams we want to beat them. I’m happy to get two goals but more importantly it was a win.”
