New Chelsea deal for Fabregas?

Chelsea will offer Cesc Fabregas a new contract amid renewed interest from Manchester United in the Spanish international midfielder, say reports.

The 30-year-old has only 18 months left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and Marca cites a report in The Times that former boss Jose Mourinho is circling for the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder.

The report indicates the Spaniard wants a two-year deal at the English champions but the club’s policy is to offer only one-year extensions for players aged over 30.

Fabregas has earned an increasingly important role with Chelsea this year, making eight league starts from 10 games after starting only 13 in the entirety of last season.

Suggestions that United could make a similar move for the midfielder as they did for Nemanja Matic may act to accelerate talks on a new deal.
