Busquets: Win due to Ter Stegen

Sergio Busquets has credited Barcelona’s 2-0 victory at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday to goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The German goalkeeper pulled off a string of fine saves as the Blaugrana continued their unbeaten start to the league campaign at the San Mames.

“Honestly we suffered a lot during this game, especially after half time,” Busquets explained to Movistar after the match.

“They had numerous chances to equalise and put us under a lot of pressure and a large part of our clean sheet is due to Ter Stegen, who has such a high level and ensured we won the game.

“He stood up in those big moments when it mattered when it was scoreless and when we were just a goal ahead with minutes to go.

“But our counter-attacking goal at the end means we have a really strong start to the season and long may it continue.”

Ter Stegen has been the undisputed number one at the Camp Nou since Claudio Bravo signed for Manchester City in 2016.
