Pharmaceutical company Grifols have denied strong reports in the Spanish press that they were in talks to purchase the Camp Nou naming rights.
Reports had indicated the Spanish-based company were in ‘advanced talks’ to complete a three-decade long deal with the Blaugrana in a move which was said to rename the ground Nou Camp Grifols'.
The deal was set to be worth a reported €340m to the Catalan giants with reports indicating the club were in need of funds for new contracts for stars such as Lionel Messi alongside future transfers.
“With respect to the news stories of negotiations between Grifols and Barcelona over the naming rights of the Camp Nou, the company is not contemplating any sponsorship of this type,” Grifols stated, as reported by Marca.
Grifols is based in Barcelona and is among the top 35 companies listed on the Spanish stock exchange, while the Camp Nou is set to undergo renovation starting in two years time.
