Pereira banned after speeding

Valencia’s on loan midfielder Andreas Pereira has been banned from driving for eight month after speeding at over three times the speed limit.

The on-loan Manchester United player [pictured, right], who spent last season on a similar arrangement with Granada, was caught driving his Bentley at 148 kilometres per hour in a zone with a 50 kilometres per hour speed limit in the city’s Maestro Rodrigo Avenue on Monday.

The Brazilian was fined a total of €3,600 (£3,212) alongside having his licence withdrawn for the next eight months – the rest of his scheduled time at the Mestalla.

The 21-year-old posted a message on Twitter earlier this week to express his regret: “I regret very much speeding in my car yesterday evening and I will accept any punishment I receive.

“It is important to be careful when driving and to always respect the regulations. Lesson learned.”

Pereira has started three La Liga games and scored once to help Los Che to an unbeaten start to the campaign.
