Lille eye Barca striker

French outfit Lille are looking to take Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer on loan in the January transfer window.

Reports in Spain suggest the 24-year-old, signed from Valencia for a reported €30m in August 2016, has not convinced boss Ernesto Valverde so far this season, although Barca had no intention of losing him as he is seen as a direct replacement for Luis Suarez should the Uruguayan pick up an injury.

However, Spain international Alcacer is unsettled as he needs more game time to earn a place at next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Despite having been asked to be patient by the club’s coaching staff. Alcacer is believed to be open to a move and Lille, who have already asked about his situation, are willing to take him on loan with an option to buy.

According to Sport, Lille director general Marc Ingla has already travelled to the Catalan capital to register the Ligue 1 side’s interest, while boss Marcelo Bielsa has given the thumbs up to the arrival of the former Valencia youth product.

Nonetheless, Lille may not have it all their own way as Celta Vigo have been monitoring the player’s position, while Southampton have already allegedly checked on his availability.
