Zidane: Spurs a great team

Zinedine Zidane labelled Tottenham Hotspur “a great team” after they held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty rescued Madrid a point at the Santiago Bernabeu after Raphael Varane’s own goal had given Tottenham the lead, and Zidane had no complaints with the result.

“We played against a great team, they also played well,” the coach said after the game.

“We could’ve scored more, but so could they. It’s a normal result. It was a good match and we have the match in London next. We have to try to win at Wembley.

“They scored when we were the better team and that’s tougher to accept, but it’s no big deal.

“Now we’re thinking about our next game. It’s another Final for the group and we’ll be playing at Wembley. It’s not Tottenham’s stadium, but it’s the Champions League.

“Personnel changes? I won’t make changes if there are no gaps to fill. I brought on Asensio because Benzema was tired and Lucas [Vazqiez] for more depth, but it wasn’t possible.

“Keylor? He did well, like always.”
