Returning sporting director Mario Husillos has asserted that Malaga will not sack Michel Gonzalez. “He’s an excellent Coach.”
Michel’s position appeared to be hanging by a thread after Malaga lost their seventh game out of eight over the weekend, but Husillos – who is back at La Rosaleda, replacing the departed Francesc Arnau – insists the Andalusians still have faith in the 54-year-old
“He’s an excellent Coach,” he told Cadena COPE.
“People never look towards the bench, but we have to think about solutions that don’t involve sacking the Coach.
“We must fight to the death. I talked to Michel on Sunday [after the 2-0 defeat to Leganes] and he didn’t appear sunken, although he is concerned like everyone else.
“The situation is a huge one and we have to get out of it. We have to look each other in the eye and go forward.
“Have I come out to talk to the sheikh [owner Abdullah Al Thani]? No.”
