Gerard Moreno slammed referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco for disallowing his Espanyol winner against Levante. “Things always happen with him…”
Gerard appeared to score a perfectly-valid goal, when he outjumped Antonio Luna in Levante’s six-yard area, but Undiano Mallenco refused to award the goal and Espanyol were forced to settle for second 0-0 draw in four games.
“The move was very quick. Luna took advantage of the contact, but I don’t think it was a clear foul,” the striker said after the game.
“I jumped and finished [the cross] off. The linesman was going towards the goal, yet Undiano took 30 seconds to disallow it.
“I don’t know why he did that. Maybe he was reviewing the move in his head. VAR may help, but the linesman meant well. With Undiano, things always happen.
“Performance? The team did well, created chances and didn’t suffer.”
