Aguero would ‘love’ Messi at City

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has admitted his enthusiasm for any potential deal to see Lionel Messi join his club from Barcelona.

The two have played together at international level and Messi is yet to finalise a contract extension to his current deal at the Camp Nou, which expires in June 2018.

“If we’re honest, money is not an issue with this,” Aguero told Argentine media TyC Sports.

“Messi is one of those elite players who, just like Ronaldo, symbolise their clubs and it’s difficult for them to leave for any other side.

“Who wouldn’t want to have Messi in their team? I’d love for him to join (Man Cit) but I think it would be a very difficult move.

“It was great for us to qualify, I watched the game with my mum and it was nerve-wracking but I was delighted.

“After, I spoke to Lionel and congratulated him and also thanked him for what he has achieved. We are a group and we are all close.”

City boss Pep Guardiola previously managed him at the Blaugrana while the club’s chief executive Ferran Soriano would ‘open the doors’ on any move.
