Barca sporting directors resign

Albert Soler (pictured) and Raul Sanllehi – two of Barcelona’s transfer strategists – have resigned from their positions at the club.

Sanllehi was director of football at the Camp Nou and was the main man for South American transfers, playing a huge role in the signing of Neymar four years ago.

Diario Sport have now reported that Manchester City and Arsenal are considering approaching Sanllehi to bolster their transfer department.

Soler will remain at the club but will no longer be involved in first team duties, citing fatigue as the main reason stepping down from his role as sporting director.

Pep Segura will now take over a number of the two’s roles in his increased capacity as general manager, while Robert Fernandez continues as sporting director.

These resignations follow the departures of vice president Carles Vilarrubi and director Jordi Mones in the aftermath of the decision by the club to stage their league games with Las Palmas behind closed doors.

The two were unhappy with the club’s decision to stage the match in wake of the violence in Catalonia following the independence referendum.
